Jatiya Party MP Prof Masuda M Rashid Chowdhury passes away

Prof. Masuda Mashid Chowdhury, MP for reserved seats for women in Parliament, died today. At the time of her death, she was 70 years old.

According to Delowar Jalali (press secretary of Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader), the former professor of Sociology at University of Dhaka died from various illnesses at Birdem Hospital around 3:30 AM.

Masuda M RashidChowdhury had been receiving treatment at Birdem Hospital over the past few days. Delowar Jalali informed that she was placed on life support yesterday.

Prof Masuda M. Chowdhury's son and daughter are her survivors, as well as a host family members and well-wishers.

In 2019, she was elected MP from the reserved seats for women in parliament.

Raushan Ershad (Opposition Leader), Opposition Chief Whip Mashiur Rahman Ranga and others expressed shock at Prof Masuda’s death.

Prof Masuda, a Chattogram native, was active in various social organizations.

JP stated in a press release that her first namaze-e-janaza will take place at her residence in capital's Maghbazar after Zuhr prayers today.

After Asr prayers, her second namaz e-janaza will take place at the central office of Jatiya Party in Kakrail. Tomorrow's namaz-e janaza 3 will be at Laldighi maidan in Chattogram after Zuhr prayers.

After Asr prayers, she will be laid to repose at Gahira village in Raozan tomorrow.

GM Quader (Jatiya Party Chairman) expressed shock at the passing of Prof Masuda. He prayed for the soul of Prof Masuda's salvation and offered his condolences.

Quader stated that Prof Masuda was an ideal teacher and played a significant role in nation building. She was always hungry for knowledge, and she has been enriched by her studies abroad. She was active in social service until her death. Jatiya Party will remember her contribution in gold letters. She was a tireless worker for the Jatiya Party. She played an important role in the socioeconomic development of the masses.
